A Few Minutes To Spare

Today was a busy day of groceries and back to school preparations. I am just sitting down for a few minutes while my children are watching a movie to see if I can get a few more words written on my newest project.

It is in the very beginning stages and until my children go back to school on Sept.8th, I only get a few minutes here and there to sit down. Not a lot of time to get my head in the game.

BUT since I have already set the ball into motion it is hard for me to set it aside and not think about it. So until Sept.8th, when I will have time to be productive, I have to swim against the current.

I cannot give you a lot of details about what I am currently working on other than the fact that it is my first attempt at a series. It will be a romance suspense...I believe. At least that is what it is currently formulating as in my head. Only time will tell :)

Playing With My Paints

This is completely unrelated to my writing but painting is another love of mine.
It had been awhile since I had a paintbrush in my hand. Yesterday I decided to have some fun!
This is the result :)

Good news

Yay! I have some more good news!!
"Catching Fox" has also been accepted to be published.

I now officially have two contemporary romances in the works "Catching Fox" and "Truth or Dare." I will be posting cover reveals, teasers and release dates as things progress.

These were both older manuscripts I had completed prior to writing "Alluring Song." I'm am very excited to share them. If you like to read contemporary romance stay tuned :)

Light Bulb!

Holy Heavens! Why didn't I think of this before. Instead of trying to zone out the background noise of playing children all summer so I could try and concentrate on my writing I should have been using headphones!!! So simple, its embarrassing I haven't thought of it until now.

And my son just ran through my kitchen completely naked as I am typing this!!!
I had a few minutes of peace anyway :)

Breaking Ground!

I have officially broken ground on the beginning of my next adventure!  I felt the creative energy flow this morning and I couldn't resist.  This was me excitedly typing away while consuming copious amounts of tea. I was trying to wait until my children go back to school so my days are quiet and productive again BUT I suffer from an addiction!

My plan is to write a romance with dark elements. I have officially planted the seed with the opening scene and now I will start the building process and see where this story leads.

I have always written standalone books but I feel like branching out and testing the waters to take on my first series :)

My book "Truth or Dare" (A new adult, contemporary romance) will be released this fall. It is not listed on the site because it is still in the developing stages.

The publisher is in charge of designing the cover so I have no idea what it is going to look like but I am very excited to find out :)

Catching Fox

I finished cleaning up another older manuscript. I am planing on submitting this to my publisher to see how they feel about it.

This one is titled "Catching Fox." It's another contemporary romance.

I am working on the description now trying to make it sound very enticing ;)

In short, it is a love story that starts off as a bond created between two young children. Their relationship changes as they grow older and start their journey into adulthood. An emotional journey that explores all the hurdles that stand between them.

Hopefully you will be hearing more about this book! I will have to wait and see what the publisher thinks :)

Morning Bliss

My house is so quiet this morning. It is heavenly!

This is how I start every morning. It's my hot and cold start to the day. A cold refreshing smoothie for breakfast, filled with tons of brain foods and a hot tea to warm me up after!

And of course one of my favorite companions, my computer.

My children love smoothies to start the day. It makes healthy eating easier with my picky little ones. Then I don't feel so bad about letting them have a treat or two during the day:)

The best thing about smoothies is all the things you can hide in them. This smoothie has orange juice, vanilla whey protein powder, Greek yogurt, kiwi, pear, avocado, cauliflower, spinach, strawberries, and blueberries...yummy!!

A Few Minutes To Spare!

This is me very excitedly sitting down in front of my computer because I have a few precious moments before I have to make supper! Maybe I will get a few minutes of writing in before someone calls my name :)

I would absolutely love to tell you that "Alluring Song" was selling wonderfully and I have made money to justify all the time I put into it...unfortunately I am still very much in the red. Its my love of writing that keeps me going, definitely not the pay!

There is a lot of competition in the writing world!

My romance novel "Truth or Dare" (to be released this year) makes me a bit nervous because when it comes to romance I think people tend to be more critical. When I write fantasy there are lots of blurred lines. When it comes to contemporary romance, I have to stick in the confines of reality. I think it will be harder to stand out and to impress.

At least this time I have a publisher to give me guidance. I will probably find out that I did a lot of things wrong when it came to promoting my first book. Live and learn.

I am now going to take a few minutes and brainstorm ideas for my next writing adventure...

Creepy Campfire!

We love our campfires in the summer. Sitting around with a few drinks and enjoying the quiet of the evening...
Last time we had a fire I snapped a picture and realized we had an unexpected guest. Can you see the creepy fire demon in the flames??

Joys of Summer

We took today to appreciate the joys of summer in Nova Scotia. My sister has been visiting with her family and we had a wonderful day at the beach.
This summer has definitely not been very productive when it comes to getting any amount of writing done. Its hard to pass up the sun for a computer especially with my boys are home all day.
Last night I kept dreaming I was typing away on my computer and I would wake up often thinking I needed to finish was I was doing...writing withdrawal!
I am looking forward to getting back to a regular schedule again. I have big plans for the fall. I think I might try to work on starting a series. I have always been a huge standalone fan but it's always good to try new things!

I have been very busy lately getting the manuscript ready for their editing process.
My main goal was to get the word count down. I had to cut out 10,000 words because it was too long! I managed without too many tears ;)

When I wrote Truth or Dare I had no intention of publishing it. I was still a closet writer at the time so it was a little rough around the edges. I had lots of polishing to do to make it ready :)

I love that Limitless Publishing is making it possible for me to present it to the world. I am looking forward to working with them and learning how the process works.

I am not sure about the timeline for a release date yet but it is officially in the works! I will keep you posted :)
