A Taste Of What I Am Currently Working On

I thought I would share a little teaser of the romantic suspense I am working on. You have to be forgiving of my grammar. This is only the first draft so it may be changed a bit by the time I am done with it :)

Excerpt...
“Come down here now, Lexie! You are going to get yourself killed.”
Lexie looked down at her blue painted toes. It was her favorite polish. The color had long since chipped away and was in dire need of a new coat. She had used the remainder of the bottle last time she painted them and could not find the shade anywhere. It had to be that specific color. Nothing else would do.
Lexie was standing upon a rock overlooking a shear drop. Water sprayed and frothed over the edge, showering into the pool of turbulent water below. Her stomach felt weightless and dense simultaneously as she peered over the edge. Her heart beat madly in her chest as fear stretched it is cold, dark fingers around her, holding tight. She reveled in the feeling that penetrated the numb fog that long since settled over her. The warm did nothing to sooth her as it cast its afternoon light upon her bare skin, clothed only in her blue bikini. A staple in her wardrobe since summer had begun.
Her eyes fell upon her friend below, Stephanie, her arms waved madly. “I know you can hear me, Lexie, get your cute butt back down here. This isn’t funny.”
The quiet surroundings were so peaceful, untouched by civilization. She had stumbled upon this place a year ago on their first road trip. It had been a much different experience the first time. That was when she still had her heart, her Alex.

Taking a deep breath, she pushed off the rock. The comfort of the solid surface beneath her feet was replaced with the weightless feeling of falling. Stephanie’s scream rang out around her, swallowing the peaceful calm of the morning. Air rushed past Lexie’s skin, the fleeting feeling of freedom was liberating before the cold sting of water slapped harshly against her. Swallowing her down into its cold dark depths where the warm sun could not penetrate.

The Cover Reveal for CATCHING FOX will be Nov.17th

A new adult, contemporary romance
coming soon!

A chance meeting between two young souls is all it took...

When Adalynne Fairweather was just a child, her entire life had already been planned. From Ivy League schools to a career in law, adventure was the one thing out of her reach. That was until a boy with bright green eyes and a monster truck t-shirt wandered into her back yard, giving the adventure she longed for.

Refuge can be found in the most unlikely places…

Damon Knight’s abusive home life left him longing for a childhood he never had—until he wandered into Adalynne’s yard. She took his hand, smiled at him, and even gave him a nickname. Fox. The woods became their escape—a place to flee from reality. He discovered music through Adalynne’s piano, and not long after that, she gave him a guitar. Little did he know that gift would change his life forever.

Years later, their age is not the only thing that’s changed...

Adalynne’s love for Fox took on a life of its own. As they begin to build their lives, her heart aches for him in ways she can’t understand. As they slowly begin to drift apart, Adalynne becomes more desperate to cling to their secret romance.

But Fox is no longer the bright-eyed child from the woods. Her shy, beautiful Fox has grown into a dark, troubled man with a guitar. And when her last attempt to salvage their relationship breaks Adalynne’s heart, catching Fox a second time seems just out of her reach.

“You remind me of a fox because you are quick, quiet, and…beautiful.”

Feedback for "Truth Or Dare"

I had recently released early copies of Truth Or Dare to reviewers to get some feedback on what they think of the book.

The first person to read it gave me their thoughts and it completely made my day! It is so nice to know that someone really enjoyed it. I'm a happy girl today :)

I feel more confident as release day approaches!

Brainstorming...

When I started writing my current work-in-progress I didn't have a plan; I merely started
typing away and let the story unfold.

I came to a point where I had to start making a outline, a rough flow of events to make sure that all the dots will all be connected.

This is a little different than my last two books, both contemporary romances. This current book has a crime element to it. I want to make sure that the situation is realistic and no holes are left if the plot.

The last few days I have scribbling madly trying to brainstorm and I am very excited to say that I think I figured it all out. The notes look like a disaster and wouldn't make sense to someone other than myself but the important thing is that it comes together quite nicely in my head. I have figured out the direction the story is heading and I am very excited!!

Are you wondering what I'm up to?

I've been boring lately because I have been focusing on writing. I need to pick up the pace because I've been distracted lately. It's always exciting to see how the story is shaping up. I am just letting the story goes where it wants to go. No planning, just living on the edge :)

I am trying to get in contact with someone at a local Chapters to carry my book(s) in store. I have been bounced around a bit with finding the right contact but hopefully I will be able to place some signed copies of my books in the "local author" section.
I was in a few weeks ago check out the section. Hopefully some of my work will find a place there...

In two weeks my second book will be released but my first will always have a special place in my heart. It marked the beginning of this crazy journey!

Book Trailer for Truth Or Dare

I made some slight modifications today to the book trailer. I couldn't concentrate on writing because I am too excited. My daughter is coming home today. I haven't seen her since Sept.5 when I dropped her off at school. I can't wait to hug my baby :)

My Work In Progress...

As I sit here with my big cup of my wonderfully comforting tea I have decided that I am no longer making the book I am currently writing a series. I wanted to attempt it because it seems to be what a lot of authors are doing but the more I think about it I realize it may not be for me.

I personally love standalones because they are a complete story that doesn't leave me hanging. There is also the fact that I want to let the story happen the way it feels like it is supposed to unfold rather than thinking about drawing it out over multiple books.

I am making good progress and hopefully soon I can give you a little teaser about what to expect...

You may have noticed I also added another Work In Progress in the sidebar. This is another untitled book that I had started last spring. It is a fantasy romance with a similar feel to Alluring Song. I will also be finishing this when I can. I really love writing in the fantasy genre too. There are less limitations on my imagination :)

Giveaway Ideas...

So I have been trying to figure out a good giveaway to offer when I do my blog tours after the release of "Truth Or Dare"

Blog tours being when book bloggers sign up to help me spread the word on the select days of the tour. Giveaways are normally done for these promotional tours to help drum up excitement. Giveaways normally include signed paperbacks, ebooks, gift cards, and sometimes items that pertain to the book.

I was thinking about offering a painting (16 x 20") as a giveaway prize in the hopes that I can grab some attention. It is very fitting because the main character is an artist :)

What do you think?

No more changes!

I just turned in my last round of edits for "Truth Or Dare". I have read it so many times and every time I tweak and make changes. It's probably good I am now cut off or I could go on forever.

I must admit I am very nervous about the release of this book because I have had zero feedback from my publisher about what they think of it other than receiving the contract from them. So I can only hope that means they think it has potential.

My editor only gave me feedback about my grammar, nothing about the story itself. So I will be approaching release day blind as to where it will fall in the whole scheme of things. Of course I am hoping people fall in love!

When I wrote this book I had no intention of publishing it, meaning I didn't write it to appeal to anyone but myself. I honestly have no idea what readers will think of this book...Fingers-crossed!

I am continuing to slowly get wonderful feedback for Alluring Song but I still can't get the ball rolling...I would one day love to think I will make someone's list of favorite authors but right now I am struggling to get people to even notice I am here.

"True Love"...Does It Really Exist?

As a writer who focuses on romance this is important subject manner...
In a world where every single person is unique we have to believe that something as personal as love would take many forms.
This is probably why their is so much controversy when it comes to soulmates, true love, or whatever you want to call it. People are always wondering if that kind of connection can really exist between individuals. Something so strong and beautiful that it becomes magical. Something that takes so many forms it is impossible to define and understand.

With so many failed relationships the jury always seems to be out. The true understanding of it will always be out of reach and leave others scratching their head because it is not a tangible thing. It will always be above and beyond us, even to those who have found it.
Do I personally believe in a love that possesses you mentally and physically on a level that forever changes you? An attraction and feelings for a person that never fades with time. A love so real and true it becomes the center of your life...Yes.
I believe in it and I never question it. It doesn't need to make sense and I don't need scientific proof...I know it exists.
